Wipe-clean glass that punishes every knife you own.

TL;DR

Hygienic in the narrow sense and brutal on knives. I use one as a trivet and a pastry surface, never as a cutting board.

Buy it if

  • Countertop protection and heat-proof landing space
  • Rolling pastry and working with sticky doughs
  • Serving platters

Skip it if

  • Daily chopping with knives you care about
  • Anyone bothered by the noise

Material and build

Glass is completely non-absorbent, so in a narrow sense it is hygienic: nothing soaks in and nothing stains.

It is also harder than your knife steel. Every cut takes metal off the edge rather than the other way around.

First week with it

Ten minutes of chopping and my chef's knife needed a hone. That is not an exaggeration.

The noise is a real factor too — it is a hard, high clack that fills a small kitchen.

Where it fits in a real kitchen

As a trivet, a pastry slab or a serving surface it is genuinely useful and easy to clean.

As an everyday cutting board it costs you edge life on every knife in the block.

What the evidence says

Amazon listing data at the time of checking: 4.6 average from 7,140 ratings, and the listing itself leads on scratch, heat and shatter resistance rather than knife friendliness.

Chips and hairline cracks are the hidden failure mode: a damaged glass surface holds soil in exactly the crevices you cannot see.

Care and durability

Dishwasher safe and effectively maintenance-free.

Inspect the edges regularly and retire it if you find a chip.

Price and guarantee

Listed at $14.50 at the time of checking, with no separate struck-through list price shown on the page, so no discount is quoted here.

Cheapest board in the ranking — and the one most likely to cost you money in knife sharpening.
